You can play The Beatles: Rock Band by yourself, but the real magic happens when you play with friends singing glorious three-part harmonies in a full band setup. The game supports up to six players: two guitarists, a drummer, and three vocalists. We’ll help you set up your band in minutes.
The Xbox 360 has three USB ports. Two are in front, and a third is in back.
If you’re using the wireless instrument controllers made for The Beatles: Rock Band or Rock Band 2 for all of the instruments, you can use the three USB ports for the three microphones, assuming you have a wireless controller.
If you’re using any wired Rock Band 1 controllers or a wired controller, you’ll need a USB hub in order to add all of the peripherals.
NOTE: Only Xbox 360 wireless instruments can connect directly to the console – any other third party wireless instrument requires the use of one USB port.

If you’re using the guitar controllers made for The Beatles: Rock Band or Rock Band 2, each comes with a USB dongle that has two USB ports. Plug the two guitar dongles directly into the console, and plug the drums and three mics into the open guitar dongle ports. This setup works with drum kits made for Rock Band, Rock Band 2, and The Beatles: Rock Band.
If one of your guitar controllers is from Rock Band 1, you’ll need a USB hub to connect everything (Rock Band 1 guitar dongles do not have the additional ports). Plug the Rock Band 2 guitar dongle and the USB hub into the console, and then plug the drums and one microphone into the guitar dongle. The Rock Band 1 guitar and the other two mics can then be plugged into the hub.
If all of your controllers were made for Rock Band 1, you will be one port short, even with the USB hub. You will not be able to connect the third microphone without an additional hub. Plug both hubs into the console ports, and plug all of the peripherals into the ports of the hubs.
NOTE: Do not plug one guitar dongle into another guitar dongle, as this will not work. If you’re using one or more guitars made for Rock Band 2 or The Beatles: Rock Band, plug the dongles directly into the console.
